- Assess and monitor newborns: vital signs, temperature, breathing, color, feeding tolerance, weight, and output, and document changes accurately.
- Support breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and formula preparation; follow feeding schedules and watch for signs of poor feeding or reflux.
- Perform diapering, bathing, umbilical cord care, skin care, and circumcision site care as ordered.

- Promote safe sleep, soothing, and healthy sleep routines, and maintain a clean, safe, infection-controlled environment.
- Administer prescribed medications and follow physician and pediatrician orders.
- Educate and support parents on newborn care, feeding, sleep, hygiene, and when to seek medical help.
- Keep detailed overnight care notes and give a clear handover to parents and the care team each morning.
